You may have already seen that First Round is hiring an associate in San Francisco.
What’s really cool to me, though, is how they are doing it. If you click through to the post about the hire, and then to the questions they’re asking of applicants, it feels more like a conversation than a hiring process.
No long list of requirements. Just, “tell us who you are” in the context of the things that we consider most important in this business.
I particularly like this one: How did you get your last job? because it hints at how someone networks and/or navigates processes.
I hope hiring more and more looks like this kind of conversation rather than the more traditional job-board style approach. Resumes all look the same after a while, no matter how amazing people’s experiences.
