Ladies, it’s time to make #OurVoteCount come November 8.
Did you know that in the 2012 election only 64 percent of eligible women exercised their right to vote? A more depressing fact: Only 45 percent of women in the 18–24 age range went to the polls the same year. That’s right, less than half of eligible female young millennial voters cast a ballot in the last presidential election. We’re hoping to change that this time around.
In this year’s election, a number of women’s issues—reproductive rights, paid maternity leave, affordable child care—are at stake. As women, it’s more important than ever to cast your vote for the next president of our country. As part of a new initiative called #OurVoteCounts, more than fifty leading women’s media brands, including Vogue, have joined forces with Rock the Vote to help drive more female voters to the polls. Our collective goal is to add an additional 100,000 female voters before the national registration deadline.
