I usually dig the design reviews from Brand New. This one outlines the process (I use the term loosely) undertaken by South Dakota State University to design a new college logo. The journey sounds tortuous, certainly one I would not suffer for an apparently abysmal fee. But the derision dripping from the piece is almost too much to take, though all too common in the top-down graphic design world. An undergrad at the school posted his own designs to Facebook and gathered feedback from his fellow students. The horror! That non-designers (otherwise known as customers) would want to or expect to be involved in the process is just too much for the Speak Up/Design Observer crowd.
